24th Annual Beaux Arts Ball – March 31

Masked Ball & Creative Black Tie Event

Greene County Council on the Arts members and friends are banishing the winter blues this March 31 with an evening of art, dancing, fine food and fun at the 24th Annual Beaux Arts Ball. Last year we celebrated 35 years of service to the community making this our 36th year!

The Beaux Arts Ball is the Arts Council’s primary fund raising event, supporting the many programs and services we offer to our community. So don your finery and join us at the Copper Tree Restaurant at Hunter Mountain.

For the festivities this year, we are reviving a creative twist – bring your own mask or buy one of the masterpieces made by GCCA artists and friends. Unmask your secret self, confound your friends (Who is that masked man/lady?), and support the arts.

One of the highlights at the Ball is the presentation of the Distinguished Service Awards, underwritten by First Niagara Bank. This year we will honor arts patron par excellence Purcell Palmer who co-founded the Catwalk Arts Residency with her husband Jim in 2004, is founding patron of the Masters on Main Street initiative, catalyst behind the Catskill High Peaks Festival developing in Hunter and a longtime supporter of the arts in the Hudson Valley and beyond. The Distinguished Service Award is presented annually for steadfast commitment and unselfish contributions to the quality of cultural life in Greene County. Congratulations Purcell for this well deserved award.

You’ll want to be there to congratulate Purcell on her special night and acknowledge past honorees who attend the event. The cause is exceptional so Go for Baroque and Send us your Monet! Become a benefactor at a level of your choosing. Benefactor levels for tables of 10 range from DaVinci’s Diamond Dynasty at $10,000 to Cole’s Silver Society at $1,500. Individual benefactor levels range from Renoir’s Regal Realm at $500 to Rousseau’s Lair at $150. Contact the GCCA by March 9 to be listed in the program book and help make this the most successful Beaux Arts Ball in history.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with the opening of the silent auction accompanied by fabulous hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. The silent auction features original works of arts and crafts donated by our talented artists, as well as wonderful items donated by area businesses. A special treat in the auction area is the outrageous and talented Lex Grey with her Naughty Cabaret.

While you contemplate your bids, in the Main Ballroom New York City’s top party band NITE-TIME will entice you onto the dance floor with an impressive repertoire from a wide variety of musical traditions and dance rhythms from 6:30 p.m. until midnight! This great six piece band is brought to you by the generosity of the band’s drummer, singer, songwriter and producer, Yves Goldberg and his wife Amy (lead singer) who are donating their services for this event.

Dinner is served at 8 p.m. in a dining room magically transformed by decorating diva Jean Slutzky. The Restaurant at Hunter Mountain will tantalize your taste buds with a delectable haute cuisine menu, including a full entrée followed by an exquisite dessert.

At the end of the evening you will be able to take home a free commemorative photograph of you, your partner and friends – thanks to the photographic artistry of Fotopic.com’s Rob Shannon assisted by his beautiful bride, Jan Riccobono.

And if that isn’t enough, The Kaatskill Mountain Club at Hunter Mountain Resort is inviting all Arts Ball guests to experience one ofGreeneCounty’s finest resorts firsthand.
