Annual Garden Party-Grazin’ Greene
GCCA Annual Garden Party
Grazin’ Greene ~ A Feast for the Senses!
The Greene County Council on the Arts invites all to its Annual Garden Party! Spend a glorious early autumn afternoon at the historic Beattie-Powers Place to support your arts council on Saturday, September 28th, from 1-5 p.m. In keeping with its new name, ‘Grazin’ Greene,’ the Garden Party will present a feast for the senses, featuring an exclusive selection of the finest in local art, music, products, gourmet foods and spirits. (Tickets may be purchased on-line…just scroll to bottom of page.) Also new this year will be an exhibit of children’s art from the beloved GCCA free summer arts program, known as ‘Sprouts,’ on the theme of ‘Healthy Children / Healthy Families.’ In addition, tables and chairs decorated by the children at each of the six Sprouts sites (in Cairo, Catskill, Coxsackie, Greenville, Hunter and Windham) will be offered in silent auction. This truly is something special.
The Garden Party offers everyone an opportunity to meet many GCCA Members and to view (and buy!) some of the GCCA Artist Members’ brilliant art work on display. Also in store is an afternoon of music featuring the crowd pleasing and spirited Enrico “The Caboose” Scull and friends. An array of mouth-watering, signature dishes will be offered at the Party from some of your favorite restaurants and caterers in Greene County. Tantalizing spirits from local breweries and wine shops in GCCA’s own ‘bottomless’ glasses, will be available for $10. In addition GCCA will make available fun and creative art activities to keep your children both occupied and entertained.
Held at the beautifully restored Beattie-Powers Place overlooking the Hudson River, the Garden Party is the perfect way to meet and connect with fellow GCCA members. Located in the historic district of Catskill at top of Bridge Street at the intersection of Prospect Avenue, the Beattie-Powers Place with its spectacular lawn and garden provides an idyllic setting to experience the ambiance that inspired Thomas Cole and Frederic Church as well as the current artists participating in Round 7 of Masters on Main Street.
For 38 years, the GCCA has been the hub of the art community in Greene County. We have supported arts organizations and artists and sponsored arts related events for children and seniors alike. Now in its seventh round, Masters on Main Street brings the artwork of professional artists from around the region to the storefronts of Catskill on view 24/7. We maintain a gallery in Catskill, bring numerous cultural events to Greene County, participate in community revitalization projects through the arts and nurture our long tradition as a community that welcomes artists and fosters their work. Most recently, GCCA in partnership with Masters on Main Street, Catskill Mountain Foundation, Prattsville Art Workshop & Residency and Zadock Pratt Museum launched www.MainlyGreene.com, a website devoted to the promotion of the region’s great cultural, historic and geographic adventures in the Rip Van Winkle corridor in Greene County to residents and visitors.
At a time when arts programs across the state are threatened and community arts programs in the Hudson Valley are treading water, the GCCA, your local arts council, is determined to continue the programs that serve so many. But we cannot do it without your support. We invite you to attend this fun event, see old friends and meet new ones. With your support the GCCA can continue the valuable programs and services that have contributed so greatly to the quality of life in Greene County.
Admission to the Garden Party is $25 for members and their guests and $40 for non-members. Each non-member admission includes a one-year individual membership to the GCCA (for new members only). Children under 12 are free. For reservations or more information, contact the GCCA at 518-943-3400, purchase on-line (see below) or email email@example.com.
