CELEBRATING 30 YEARS at the BEAUX ARTS BALL!

The Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of the Greene County Council on the Arts would like to take this opportunity to express our abundant thanks to everyone who help make our 18th Annual Beaux Arts Ball, affectionately dubbed “Keith’s Party”, quite the affair to remember. As we continue to celebrate our 30th Anniversary, your loyalty and support is heartwarming and more valuable than ever before. This year’s Ball was held on April 1 at the Copper Tree Restaurant at Hunter Mountain. The Beaux Arts Ball is GCCA’s major fundraising event, generating indispensable proceeds that support the vital programs and services we provide to the community throughout the year. The success of this year’s event is even more precious in light of limited funding at the state and federal level. Over $50,000 was raised towards our 2006 fundraising goal. Our thanks go to the more than 375 people who took part in the festivities as well as to everyone who contributed to making the evening an overwhelming success.

Special thanks to our lead sponsors, the Bank of Greene County, to our table benefactors: the Bank of Greene County (Diamond), Keith A. Lampman (Platinum), Columbia Memorial Hospital/Columbia Greene Hospital Foundation (Gold), Pamela & Dr. Theodore Belfor, Peter & Sarah Finn & The Catskill Mountain Foundation, Regina Doebler, First Niagara Bank, Greene County IDA, Jerry’s Kids, Key Bank & McDonald Financial Group, Gregory & Lovey Lampman, Pete & Judy Lampman, Maloney-Walsh-Bradley, Gina & Frank Orlando, The Peckham Family Foundation, C.B. & Natasha Slutzky, David & Jean Slutzky, Windham Fine Arts (Silver), and to our numerous individual benefactors.  Thanks to Keith A. Lampman, our Distinguished Service Award honoree, for his invaluable assistance and help in establishing new procedures for generating underwriting support and for packing the room with his family and friends – Benefactors all! Thanks to Kico Govantes for sharing knowledge and expertise which enabled us to institute a much smoother process for registration and bidding at our silent auction and to our Visual Arts Director, Donna Barrett, for further refining the process. Grateful thanks to Ruder Finn Printing Services and Sarah Taft for polishing our image through their donation of layout and printing services.  We are grateful as well to Rob Shannon of fotopic.com, who donated his photographic services throughout the evening, creating a wonderful library of photographs.

Thanks to event hosts, David and Jean Slutzky, who worked their magic throughout the ballroom, Cloud 9, and silent auction area. Thanks to the entire Slutzky family for their generous hospitality; to David Kukle, Wanda Cottam, Restaurant Manager and the superb staff at The Copper Tree Restaurant for their skillful and patient help; to Head Chef Jerry Greenberg for his prodigious talents and delectable artistry; to Anthony Patsky for graciously donating his time and renowned expertise as auctioneer; to Patrick D. Milbourn who, once again, provided a collectors’ item with his new 30th Anniversary commemorative poster “Let the Celebration Begin” which has been added to the series of his commemorative Beaux Arts Ball Posters since 1997 – order yours today!; to the First Niagara Bank for providing the underwriting for our Distinguished Service Awards, to Barry Hopkins for creating the awards and to Ellen Mahnken for providing the elegant hand calligraphed presentation awards; to the Overtones for providing our fabulous non-stop dancing music and drum rolls to keep us on schedule; to Jim Davis who greeted the revelers as they arrived and serenaded Cloud 9 diners with his magical harp, and to The Christine & Elliot Spero Duo who entertained browsers at the Silent Auction site, to our friends in the media for their unflagging support in publicizing this and other Council events.  And special thanks to the Board of Directors and GCCA staff for their hard work and the many hours they spent putting together this major event.

Congratulations to Keith A. Lampman, recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Service Award. This award was established to honor individuals whose outstanding contributions have significantly benefited the health of the Arts Council as well as the cultural life of Greene County.  The award was presented with great fanfare at the Ball!
