The GCCA's administration of the Cultural Fund was established in 1983 with the County Initiative Program (CIP).  This program provides funding from the County of Greene to major Greene County cultural institutions that offer quality professional services and programs.  With invaluable support from the County of Greene, this funding continues to promote the development, growth and viability of major Greene County organizations. 
 

The Decentralization Program (DEC) was added to the GCCA's Cultural Fund in 1986 and is funded by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).  This program provides funding to community-based not-for-profit organizations and artists sponsored by these agencies.  Decentralization funds are also available to local municipalities, towns and villages for cultural and arts programming.  These funds are intended to support programs and services with strong public components providing direct benefit to county residents.  In 1997 Greene and Columbia counties joined forces in a bold move to strengthen and enhance the arts in both counties with the Twin Counties Cultural Fund - Decentralization Program for Greene and Columbia Counties.
