Be
prepared! March
Winds: Youth Art
Exhibition Youth
art
comes to the Greene County Council on the Arts Catskill Gallery in March.
March
Winds
will open on March 13 and continues through May 1st.
This year the youth exhibition by Greene County students will encourage
the
exploration of wind. Using
cross discipline thinking we are challenging students to explore the
possibilities of redesigned household objects that move (or sound!) in
the
wind. Flags can be made on sticks, poles, or strung on clotheslines,
kites
designed and decorated, wind chimes and whirligigs constructed. Students
may explore the mediums of drawing, painting and writing, involving
realistic
depiction of windy scenes and objects moved by air, to wind metaphors.
They may
also explore air movement and sound working with sculpture and
assemblage.
Continuing the success and promotion of our past youth shows, we are
looking
forward to the fascinating results of these examinations. Students are also encouraged to seek advice from family members, teachers and other supporting adults, but the concept and design must be original to the participating artist/student. We
hope that March Winds related
projects can be worked into established curriculum
schedules in all Greene County schools, public, private and pre-school
programs! The GCCA would like to invite
all Greene County youth and their teachers to participate in the GCCA
Annual
Youth Exhibit for 2004. The theme this year is MARCH
WINDS. Exhibit dates will be March 13 through May
1, 2004.
