COMMUNITY GRANTS COORDINATOR
PART-TIME (20 – 25 hours/week)

CREATE Council for Resources to Enrich the Arts, Technology & Education is seeking a dynamic non-profit professional to join the team as the Community Grants Manager.

CREATE Council for Resources to Enrich the Arts, Technology & Education is a nonprofit arts service organization providing essential services to artists, arts organizations, cultural and educational institutions, civic groups, community agencies and the general public. With our main office in Catskill, New York, we serve Greene, Columbia & Schoharie Counties in the upper Hudson Valley of New York State.

Directed by a professional staff and a volunteer Board of Directors with support from community volunteers, CREATE advances the regional arts and cultural community with grants and other creative resources, and celebrates artistic and cultural diversity that inspires creative engagement.

CREATE’s Community Grants Coordinator administers the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) Statewide Community Regrant Program (SCR), which awards over $175,000 annually for Arts Education, Community Arts Projects, and individual artist support in Greene, Columbia & Schoharie Counties. The position also oversees other Community Grant programs funded by each County as well as other NYSCA and CREATE programs.

The position requires excellent writing, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills; exemplary follow through; and the ability to work both independently and in a team. Successful candidates will also demonstrate a commitment to CREATE’s mission and an ability to advance its position within the field and advocate effectively for the organization and its goals in professional and social settings.

Candidates must have:

  • A passion for and knowledge of the region’s community arts scene and presenting organizations.
  • Ability to remain flexible and focused in a demanding work environment and to prioritize deadlines and assignments effectively
  • Solid administrative skills that include an ability to establish and maintain long-term planning calendars, learn funding requirements & guidelines and apply them to particular proposals, maintain organized records, and report on program outcomes.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills to accomplish program outreach and publicity goals, including explaining the grant program and its requirements to potential applicants in group seminar-style meetings and one-on-one conversations.
  • Availability to attend evening and weekend meetings and events.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to communities throughout Columbia, Greene and Schoharie Counties.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Online Application Management Solutions and Software, and experience in website maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of CREATE Arts’ re-granting programs and steward critical relationships with NYSCA program officers
  • Maintain firm understanding of NYSCA and CREATE Art grant program guidelines, priorities, and criteria, and update annually as needed
  • Orient applicants to program guidelines and provide assistance for their application preparation (in-person and telephone meetings, emails, technical assistance seminars)
  • Market grant opportunities to regional artists and organizations, schedule and host technical assistance seminars
  • Maintain updated website information on all grant opportunities
  • Manage grant selection panels (identify and confirm regional panelists, manage panel process)
  • Publicize grant awardees
  • Organize annual Grant Award Ceremony
  • Audit funded programs and report on application and program outcomes for the Board
  • Complete all needed reporting to NYSCA
  • Convene steering or advisory committees for the grant programs
  • Maintain detailed program-related records
  • Contribute to the drafting of annual NYSCA grant application and annual work plan
  • As time permits, provide administrative support to CREATE’s exhibition, performance, and other programs
