Membership Meeting , January 25, 2020 5:00pm

Please join CREATE Council for Resources to Enrich the Arts, Technology & Education (formerly the Greene County Council on the Arts) Staff and Members on the Board of Directors on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at CREATE’s Catskill Gallery in Catskill, NY for the Annual Membership Meeting. The Council is now in its 44th year of service to the communities in Greene, Columbia and Schoharie counties. The official meeting will take   place at 5 p.m. immediately following the opening reception (3-5 p.m.) for the first of CREATE’s 2020 exhibitions.  ‘AFTER THE STORM’ is a solo exhibition by Kristen DeFontes, whose work tells the story of Hurricane Irene’s rampage, havoc and damage to her home, life and psyche. This series of assemblage articulates her art making process from coping with devastation to her feelings of renewal and moving toward a reconstruction in the aftermath of the traumatic experience.  ‘AFTER THE STORM’ will be on display through March 7, 2020. Meet the artist and view the inaugural 2020 exhibition.

Following the opening reception, CREATE members will be engaged at the Annual Membership Meeting. All current members possessing a valid CREATE membership are urged to attend. The meeting will be chaired by Bill Deane, President of the Board of Directors, who will propose changes to CREATE’s By-laws. Executive Director Marline A. Martin will present the year in review, announce the 2020 Organizational Plan and the re-branding of the Council to reflect its expanding role in the region.  CREATE Treasurer Jeff Friedman, will present an overview of the fiscal year 2019. Upcoming special events dates and news on CREATE programs will also be announced at the Annual Meeting.
